St Mary's Church has stood proudly in the centre of Moseley village for centuries, its tower visible to all. Following an 80 year silence, since 1991 its bells have been rung on Sundays and on other special occasions.
Being made of steel (rather than bell-metal) the bells make a dreadful sound. Now their fittings have deteriorated to a dangerous state it is time to replace them with traditional bells.
Moseley prides itself on being a village in a great English city. What is more quintessentially English than the sound of church bells? Unfortunately the current ring of steel bells does not live up to the image! Here is a recording of the steel bells.
.......and here is a recording of how we hope they will be after replacement. After listening to these recordings we are sure you will understand why we think this project is worthwhile! Please help us in any way you can to bring a new voice to St Mary's.
